About Ye

Ye Huang，born in Shenzhen, China in 1998, is a musician skilled in clarinet, saxophone and piano. He's also a passionate composer with expertise in multiple genres. In 2019, Ye had the honor of becoming the youngest clarinet artist for Backun Clarinet. He is currently the band director and music instructor at the jazz academy of Jazz at the Lincoln Center Shanghai. Since 2022, he has been serving as the artistic ambassador for The Forum for World Education. Ye was the first young Chinese musician to be invited as a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York and the first Chinese musician to perform a Chinese New Year-themed jazz concert at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York.

Ye’s music journey started from a young age, learning jazz clarinet from Eddie Daniels. He embarked on his clarinet journey at the age of 9, and at 11, he and his family relocated to New York City. He gave his debut performance on stage at 12. In New York, he enrolled in The Juilliard School Pre-College, studying classical clarinet with Alan Kay, and saxophone under the guidance of Ron Blake. He has also been a long-time student of Wynton Marsalis and Tan Dun. In 20**, Ye graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music with a degree in Jazz Performance. During his time at the conservatory, he had the privilege of studying under esteemed musicians such as Jerry Bergonzi, Miguel Zenon, Donny McCaslin, and Jason Moran.

From 2016 to 2019, Ye gained international exposure touring with the legendary trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, the Eddie Daniels Band, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra & Wynton Marsalis. He also showcased his versatility as a saxophonist for the quartet of drummer Dave Weckl & guitarist Mike Stern.Ye collaborated with Tan Dun on a jazz night event in 2021, a partnership that led to his appointment by Tan as the director of the "Shui Yue Tang Water Jazz Music Festival". Later he also served as the music director of the "Nü Shu International Music Festival's Latin Jazz Band.”

Also a prolific multi-genre composer, Ye Huang has released series of albums including "Starlight", "Unlock", "Podium", and "Jazz Clarinet Minuet", which blend classical, jazz, Latin, hip-hop, and rock influences. His greatest passion lies in crafting music. To him, composing music is akin to playing a musical instrument, encompassing all the most beautiful elements of music. His singles "Raven", "Break Point", and "We stand with you” have earned widespread acclaim, amassing over a million listens.

In 2022, Ye composed a pioneering 55-minute classical clarinet concerto in 16 movements, titled "Vanward is New Classical". His creative endeavor extended to an original musical “Jazzing”, produced for the Jazz at Lincoln Center in Shanghai. In 2023, he composed the musical score for the multi-element production "Huan Ai", which premiered at the Shanghai International Arts Festival. In September 2022, Ye became the first young Chinese musician to be invited to perform at the Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York, presenting "Shanghai Suite" with Wynton Marsalis and the Orchestra. He has been featured in interviews with Forbes, WBGO Jazz Radio, and DownBeat magazine.

In 2021 and 2022, Ye led a jazz band to the Guangzhou Jazz Festival, performing his original compositions. In December 2022, he represented young musicians at the World Education Forum and held a concert in Thailand.

From 2023 into 2024, Ye Huang experienced a highly successful year in his musical performance career. During this year, he became the first Chinese to perform a Chinese New Year-themed jazz concert at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York, garnering widespread media coverage from sources including China News Service. Also, in this year he lead his jazz and classical fusion band titled “Jazzical” to numerous concert halls across the expansive Shanghai area. He also composed and arranged dozens of pieces for this new fusion of music format.

At the 2024 New Year's Jazz Concert, Ye premiered "Future Symphony Concert", incorporating AI for composition, and globally debuted "Quantum Groove” with his Shanghai Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.

In 2024, Ye received an invitation from the United Nations and China Media Group (CMG), and brought a Chinese New Year gala to the Cipriani stage in New York. Ye jazzed up a traditional Chinese song and met with the Mayor of New York and the Chinese Ambassador to the US, among others. Ye received acclaim from the entire audience and appeared on CMG, CCTV, CGTN America, and other radio and news outlets.

Ye’s Huang’s musical journey has led him to numerous prestigious concert halls and music festivals around the world. With the creation and arrangement of hundreds of musical works, he stands as a dedicated and hardworking young musician, unwaveringly committed to honing his craft. Beyond his current achievements, he never stops actively seeking to innovate and leave his mark on the jazz and fusion music industry.

⻩野，1998年出生于中国深圳，他以其非凡的音乐才华和不懈的努力，在国际音乐舞台上崭露头⻆。他不仅在单簧管、萨克斯、钢琴演奏上展现出卓越的天赋，还是一位备受瞩目的新晋作曲家。2019年，21岁的⻩野成为最年轻的巴昆单簧管(Backun)艺人，这一成就标志着他在单簧管领域的杰出地位。如今，他身兼数职，不仅是林肯爵士上海中心大乐队的音乐总监，还是该爵士学院的讲师。此外，自2022年起，⻩野还担任世界教育论坛的艺术大使，通过音乐的力量搭建起文化交流的桥梁。他是第一位受邀于纽约林肯中心爵士乐团的中国年轻音乐家，也是第一位在纽约林肯中心爵士乐团进行以中国新年为主题的爵士音乐会的中国音乐家。

⻩野自幼年起便开始寻求他的音乐之旅。他9岁开始跟随深圳交响乐团的单簧管首席衣丞学习单簧管演奏。11岁时，他与家人移居美国纽约，进入茱莉亚音乐学院预科，在Alan Kay的指导下深入学习古典单簧管演奏。同时，他还跟随Ron Blake学习萨克斯演奏。⻩野12岁初次登台表演。2016年，⻩野就读于新英格兰音乐学院爵士演奏专业，师从Jerry Bergonzi、Miguel Zenon、Donny McCaslin和Jason Moran等爵士乐大师。

2022年9月底，⻩野登上美国林肯中心爵士大舞台, 与Wynton Marsalis和大乐队合作演奏《上海组曲》，成为林肯中心爵士乐团首位受邀的中国⻘年演奏家，为观众带来了一场别开生面的视听盛宴。为此，他接受福布斯、WBGO爵士电台，和DownBeats等杂志采访。 ⻩野2021年2022年两次带领爵士乐队出席广州爵士音乐节，出演曲目全部为⻩野原创。在2022年12月，他作为⻘年音乐家代表参加了世界教育论坛，并在泰国举办了音乐会。

2023年是⻩野在表演艺术领域取得显著成就的一年。在这一年里，他作为首位中国人在美国纽约林肯爵士中心上演以中国春节为主题的“2023爵士春节新年音乐会”。此次活动引起广泛关注，并到中新网等主要媒体的报道。同年，⻩野带领他的爵士和古典音乐跨界融合乐队“Jazzical”在上海地区的许多音乐厅进行了演出。

在2024年跨年爵士音乐会上，⻩野向大众展现了他的“未来交响音乐会”。他与林肯爵士上海大乐队合作，全球首次演出了他巧妙运用人工智能作曲的作品《量子律动》。

2024年收到联合国与中央广播电视总台（CMG）邀请，在美国纽约Cipriani舞台带来新春晚会，爵士改编了中国传统民歌，并接见纽约市长、中国驻美大使等，收到全场赞誉并登上CMG、CCTV、CGTN America等电台和新闻。

作为一位踏踏实实、兢兢业业为音乐而努力的⻘年音乐家，⻩野的足迹遍布全球各地许多的音乐厅、音乐节。作为一位敬业的⻘年作曲家，他创作和编排了数百首音乐作品，始终致力于磨练自己的技艺。除了现有的成就，他从未停止积极寻求创新，立志在音乐领域留下自己的印记。
